The first post office in the village of Oswego was established way back in 1837. Because of its location along the banks of the Fox River, grew steadily from the time it was established.

The population growth continued over the years and from 2010 to present the town’s population has more than doubled. Downtown Oswego has a variety of shops and restaurants and as of 2019 is poised to see a major economic revitalization with the creation of a TIF development district.

Many of Oswego’s homes contain asbestos, considering new construction flourished in the 1950s, 60s and 70s, which is prime time for when asbestos was a popular building material.
